Mint Process
Step 1
A digital, PDF proof is created to meet design specifications. Vector art is preferred and the preferred format is a 600dpi raster file.
Step 2
3D digital models are sculpted with cutting edge CAD/CAM modeling software.
Step 3
A die is made. The reverse image of the approved 3D model is machined into tool steel utilizing high precision CNC milling machines. The die is cleaned , smoothed and polished ande heat treated to harden the die for striking.
Step 4
Next is striking. A blank piece of metal previously cut to the desired shape is placed into a coining press on top of the die. Up to 1,000 tons of pressure are used to “strike” the image into the metal. Select 24k gold, fine silver or bronze for the round.
Step 5
For the proper round image look, it can be routed a number of different ways. From there, round finishing goes to polishing, enameling, etc.
Step 6
A round is created in 24k gold, fine silver or bronze. Final quality inspection and final touches ae made to each round.
